Call The Doctor

Although Isaiah and I had success removing some carpet stains with the Norwex Carpet Stain Buster and an Enviro Cloth, we soon noticed another issue.

We (read: Norwex) had done too good of a job! The small circles we treated and dabbed at were noticeably whiter than the rest of the carpet (which was apparently dirtier than we thought). Uh, way to go Norwex? We had to do something. We couldn’t help but imagine how nice it would look if the entire carpet were as white as our fresh little polka dots, but we didn’t exactly want to spend an entire day on our hands and knees dabbing away with an Enviro Cloth.

So we decided to call in the doctor. The Rug Doctor, that is. Yep, we rented a Rug Doctor from our local Kroger for a whopping 25 bones plus tax. But don’t worry, we used our Norwex Carpet Stain Buster in the machine to help keep the chemicals at bay! However, everyone before us did not. You could smell the overwhelming, fake fragrance of the typical Rug Doctor potion from a mile away. It was intoxicating but made me smile from ear to ear knowing we’ve found another way–the Norwex way–to do all of our cleaning! Yippee!

To detox The Doctor we ran a cycle of hot water through it. To prevent actually running that water through our carpet, my ingenious husband rigged it up to run through in the bathtub. It worked like a charm!

Once it cleared out and we could both breathe again (I’m barely exaggerating, it was so strong), we mixed 1/2 ounce of Norwex Carpet Stain Buster with 2 quarts of hot water. The Doctor held four batches at a time.

Then Isaiah ran the machine over our carpet according to the directions that came with it–quickly moving it forward as it squirted out the liquid and then slowly pulling it back as it extracted the dirt and pulled up the water.

When the solution was used up, we had to empty it in the toilet. Wowee was that water brown. It felt good to get that dirt out of our carpet! We refilled The Doctor two more times. I manned the mixing station while Isaiah was in charge behind the wheel. The whole process took us about 3 hours from start to finish.

We now have a noticeably lighter and brighter carpet to return home to each evening. Check out the photos!

And thanks to Norwex, we grabbed great results without all the chemicals that are typically associated with major carpet cleaning. Now if you’ll excuse me, a freshly cleaned carpet is calling my name!
