Fully Loaded, No Filler

Like a baby’s first couple of years, I mark my marriage’s age month by month. Each one is cause for celebration and today marks our 10-month anniversary! Yippee!

One household item we haven’t replenished at all during that time is our laundry detergent. Not because we can’t decide whose turn it is to do the laundry, but rather because we use Norwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent. We only need one tablespoon of the eco-friendly powder per large load, so one 4.4 pound bag of detergent will last us over a year if we keep doing about 3 loads of laundry per week.

Even better, if you have a front loading machine you only need about a 1/2 teaspoon per large load. That’s right: a half teaspoon. Crazy.

In addition to lasting forever, I love this detergent because it doesn’t have all the fillers a typical laundry detergent does. Those fillers surely give the detergent an artificial smell you’ve grown to love, but they also are what causes your clothes to feel super stiff if you don’t use a fabric softener (read more about why you should break up with your fabric softener here) or run your clothes through the dryer. Since your clothes are against your skin all day, the chemicals from your detergent have plenty of time to seep right into your body through your skin.

Here are two jars with equal amounts of water and equal amounts of laundry detergent as each other. The one on the left is Tide and the one on the right is Norwex.

You can see the fillers in the Tide since you can’t see through the jar. When I turned it upside down it’s clear the detergent never fully dissolved since some is stuck on the bottom.

The Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent forms a perfect team with the Norwex Dryer Balls, which have completely replaced fabric softener and dryer sheets for me. They keep my clothes soft, get them dry in less time (less $$ for energy to run the dryer), and curb static.

Tried the dryer balls and can’t escape some static? Chances are you’re drying your clothes for too long! The use of the dryer balls cuts drying time by about 25%, so get your clothes outta there sooner and you should be fine.

The laundry detergent comes with a 60-day warranty and the dryer balls carry a 1-year warranty so take them for a spin today!
